A well-designed interior not only makes your space look and feel good, it should also be functional for your everyday needs.

Our in-house team will provide interior design 3D mock ups, design recommendations and also oversee the renovation process to ensure everything is done well and according to plan. Let us do the heavy lifting of the design and renovation - you just need to enjoy your new, beautiful home.

Space Planning

Space planning is a fundamental stage. Based on your floor plan, IDs will plan the space and the activities that take place in it (e.g. living room, study room, playroom, etc.)

It is also important that IDs get to know your family unit at this stage, because every family has different space requirements and movements. For instance, an ID should plan for wider spaces in between furniture if there a family member requires the use of wheelchair.

Our IDs take this stage very seriously because this determines everything else in the later process. We believe that anyone can plan spaces in a house, but it is more difficult to plan spaces for a home. Hence, our IDs always seek to build a relationship with you and strive to understand you and your family as far as possible.

3D Visualisation

Our IDs will discuss with you on your preferred interior design concept on a high, general level first. This may involve sharing moodboards or Pinterest pictures of room designs, and understanding what appeals (or does not appeal) to your family.

Once your preferred design concept is confirmed, our IDs will proceed to create 3D visuals. The 3D home visuals are based on the space plan in the initial stage. It is an exciting stage where the ideas come to life.

It is vital for IDs to be as detailed as possible in the 3D visuals from colours right to the angle of the light positioning. This usually helps to avoid any ambiguity or design disputes in the upcoming renovation stage.

Renovation Management

Our IDs will oversee the timeline and management of the whole renovation process. The renovation timeline can be between 3 and 12 weeks, depending on the project and complexity. To illustrate, if you are only renovating one room, then it takes less time compared to if you are renovating the whole apartment.

It is often said that it is cheaper and easier to work with contractors directly. We do not recommend bypassing IDs and doing that. Renovation management is not just about supervising the progress of the contractors in your home. The technical issues that may occur during renovation can be resolved more efficiently by those who have the technical knowledge as well to address those problems. Otherwise, the average consumer may be blindsided, and end up paying more in variation orders (VO).

Styling & Decoration

You have an option as well to engage Ovation Interiors to style and decorate your space.

You might be tempted to think that anyone can do interior decoration. While indeed anyone can decorate their home, there is actually a lot more than meets the eye when it comes to interior styling and decoration.

The team starts by reviewing the approved space plan, design style and colour theme of your home. Only then can the team begin to source for furniture and decorations that are consistent with the design language of your home. Apart from its suitability with the overall interior design, the furniture must also be practical for your family members' everyday home usage.

Interior design conceptualisation process

Our interior designers emphasise on listening first at the initial stage. It is all about understanding your family's needs and budget. Do you have kids or elderlies living with you? Does your family need a lot of storage space? How often do you cook at home? What are your hobbies? Are you often stressed at work? What is the budget in mind? These are some examples of questions that our IDs may ask apart from questions about the design. We want to get to know your lifestyle, anticipate your needs and design a beautiful yet functional home that is not only suitable for your day-to-day life, but brings joy the moment you step in.

Once the overall design idea and space plan is agreed on, our designers will begin to create mock ups based on your home floor plan. The mock ups are shown to you for your easy visualization and approval.

Interior design renovation process

Once approved on the design, a deposit is required. After the deposit is received, our interior designers, in-house carpenters and contractors will begin to work on making your dream home a reality.

Our in-house carpentry team works closely with our IDs. In this way, our IDs can easily carry out quality control over the carpentry, ensuring you get only the best furnishing for your home. Where necessary, we will also connect and engage reputable contractors with strong track records to carry out the work according to the design specifications.

In general, the renovation process takes anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks. You can expect a duration of 3 weeks or fewer if you are just renovating one room in your apartment. For the whole unit, you should expect a duration of 8 to 12 weeks.

We know you are excited about your home, so our IDs endeavour to keep you updated on the process so that you are always in the know. Finally, the IDs will also conduct a final QC to ensure that everything is in order before handing over your unit back to you.

Inspiration + Function

Example 01

Interior design is about making the best use of your living space, especially in Singapore where most of us live in an apartment that can be quite limited in size.

There have been clients whose situation is that they downgraded their home size, still miss the space they once enjoyed and wish to make the fullest use of their new but smaller space. This is quite common.

To help clients with such a profile, our IDs make use of lighting, wall colours and unique customised carpentry with concealed storage. Lighting and light wall colours help to make the space look bigger visually. Meanwhile, concealed storages allows homeowners to enjoy the expanded storage space while still keeping clutter out of sight. These factors all contribute to an expanded sense of space, even in a HDB flat with a small floor plan.
